Today, I have a longer video for you - if you consider 4 minutes to be a long time that is - detailing the abandoned junkyard office !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
I finally got the video to upload in widescreen and at a higher quality than it was recorded in - the camera was set to its lowest recording quality for some reason - so the footage is much more watchable now. I’ve nearly exhausted Youtube’s supply of free use music that I like for this use so if you have any other sources you think I could use, let me know.
What did you think? There was a little bit of wobbliness in the footage on occasion but I think it would have been pretty solid if recorded in full 1080p 60fps widescreen. I believe the framerate was the most detrimental because of the shakiness.
Anyways, let’s get on with the photos!
First, this guy just can’t get this old piece of agricultural equipment started. I’ve been there before.
The big open shed was probably once a staging area for tearing off valuable parts before sending the rest of the car to rot in the ground. A few of the cars more firmly covered by the shed were in quite good shape. Others, not so much.
I like the delicate and dainty bullbar
The engine cover is just riveted to the body
Some seriously impressive fabrication
Gross
Someone couldn’t afford a fiberglass buggy body so they just took a Sawzall to this poor Volkswagen. There is actually some impressive engineering gone into the roll cage. I especially like how they formed the bar to taper towards the rear, following the lines of the sheet metal, showing off some difficult fabrication work.
Chairs just chilling.
There were lots of cool old instrument clusters lying around on the shelving. Old AM radios and other rare interior details were piled high all around.
Oof. Oh. Let me get out of here.
So, any thoughts?

That po
or Beetle...looks surprisingly well done (mostly) but I feel bad it was just sawzalled like that!
Video was cool! That old panel van at 0:34 is pretty neat. A bit of wobble, but not bad and
you can only do so much with a handheld camera if the camera doesn’t have a decent stabilization function...does yours have one?
I feel so bad seeing all these old cars just sitting there and rotting away :(

I am also simultaneously impressed and confused by the beetle. It’s just not the best approach but the technical skills are impressive.
Thank you. I put some effort into it so I was a little bummed so few people saw it.
Maybe I’m better at editing than shooting video. I think I could do much better with a decent camera, but the goal was more learning editing skills than creating entertainment. I would have thought the camera would have better stabilization. Hmmm. Maybe it’s turned off when it’s set to the lower quality like it was for some reason? I better hunt around some more in the options because I found out it actually is 1080p 60fps widescreen capable ):[]

I have a Samsung J3 Prime I use sometimes, no idea if that has stabilization. Otherwise, I have a Sony Vixia digicamcorder and a Nikon D3300. I’ve only used the Sony for some of my videos though, and my phone and dashcam. Never tried video on the Nikon yet!

The videos you've posted seem pretty good. The Sony something or other I used actually has better than expected sound and the photos testify as to the lens. It's really quite good for what it is so it's a shame about the quality oops.

Only thing I don’t like about my Sony is the videos it records are in a slightly odd format.
